Top Questions Future Estheticians Ask Before Enrolling at Southwest Washington Esthetics Institute

If you’ve been dreaming about a career in skincare, beauty, and wellness, becoming a licensed esthetician is your first step toward a rewarding and flexible profession. At Southwest Washington Esthetics Institute (SWEI) in Longview, WA, we’re passionate about helping students from across the Pacific Northwest — including Vancouver, Ridgefield, Battle Ground, Camas, Woodland, Chehalis, and Olympia — achieve their professional goals.

To help you prepare, we’ve gathered the most common questions prospective students ask before enrolling in our esthetics programs.

1. What are the different esthetics programs offered at SWEI?

We offer three main programs to meet students at every level:

  • Basic Esthetician Program (750 hours) – Covers the foundations of skincare, facials, waxing, makeup, and sanitation. Perfect for anyone new to the field.

  • Master Esthetician Program (500 hours) – Designed for licensed estheticians ready to advance their skills with medical and clinical training, including laser, microneedling, and chemical peels.

  • Combined Basic + Master Program (1200 hours) – The most comprehensive option, preparing you for both spa and medical esthetics careers.

2. How long does it take to complete the esthetics program?

The program length depends on your enrollment track.

  • Basic Program: Approximately 5-6 months full-time

  • Master Program: Approximately 4–5 months

  • Combined Program: Approximately 8 months

We offer flexible hybrid schedules (online theory + on-campus practice) to help students continue working while earning their license.

3. What makes SWEI different from other esthetics schools?

At SWEI, our focus goes beyond passing the state board exam — we prepare students for real-world success.

Most importantly, our Owner and Director brings over 17 years of Esthetics Experience as a Licensed Master Esthetician and owner of a successful Med Spa for those 17 years. You will have direct access to her knowledge and assistance with job placement or starting your own spa or med spa.

As well, all of our instructors also work as Estheticians or Master Estheticians as well as instructor so they are current with the industry trends.
